Dr. Bob started his career by working in several small animal hospitals, utilizing his skills as a veterinary technician for more than 15 years. He graduated from the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987 with high honors. He practiced at several small exotic animal hospitals for the next two years. In 1989 he started a mobile veterinary practice which allowed him to travel nationally and internationally working with aviculturists, as well as exotic animal parks and zoos. He started working part-time at the Del Mar Veterinary Hospital in 1990 and acquired Free Flight at that time. In 1998, he acquired the Del Mar Veterinary Hospital upon the retirement of Dr. Roland-Holst, and changed the name to The Animal & Bird Hospital of Del Mar.
Over the last 6 years, the hospital has grown, offering longer hours and an increasing higher level of pet care. Currently, Dr. Bob keeps very busy with his responsibilities as owner and CEO, but is passionate about practicing quality medicine and surgery. His special interests include avian medicine and laser surgery.
Dr. Bob is married to Pam, a registered veterinary technician who is the hospital administrator. They have two beautiful daughters, Kristen and Kelli (future veterinarians) and a myriad of animals.
