Todd Bowdre
DVM
Dr. Todd Bowdre's veterinary career began as an undergraduate student attending Western State College of Colorado high in the Rocky Mountains. When not studying he worked as a veterinary technician at Tomichi Animal Hospital which was very active in wildlife medicine, research and rehabilitation. After completing his bachelors degree in Biology Todd moved to the front range of the Colorado Rockies and joined The College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University. When not studying Todd worked as a class officer serving as an animal welfare representative providing open communication between students, faculty and research regarding animal use and welfare issues. He was also an active member with the Zoological Medicine Society and volunteered time with the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program providing rescue and rehabilitation to injured birds as well as community education. As an upperclassmen Todd became very active in the surrounding communities working at multiple animal shelters performing spays, neuters and shelter medicine.
After graduating from veterinary school Dr. Bowdre moved to Southern California in order to continue his education as part of a focused one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery with an emphasis in emergency medicine.
With the completion of his formal education Dr. Bowdre is excited to enter the arena of general practice. Since childhood Todd has been a caretaker for an interesting collection of pets and he truly enjoys the unique personalities of avian and other exotic species as well as the specialized medicine and surgery they may require. As a proponent of the special bond between pets and their owners Dr. Bowdre is excited to start a new chapter in his career working with the diversified clientele and patients at The Animal and Bird Hospital of Del Mar.
